Dreaming about turning to face what is chasing you
What happens if you stop running in a dream?
The most significant thing that can happen in a chase dream, and dreamers who have done it almost always describe it as a turning point.
Reports are consistent: the pursuit stops, the pursuer turns out to be less than expected, or the dream simply ends. Very few reports describe it going badly.
This is not just folk wisdom. Deliberately rehearsing a changed ending to a recurring nightmare while awake, imagery rehearsal, has real clinical evidence behind it, and it is the technique the nightmare-rescripting programme teaches.
Where this reads well
Frequently reported as ending a recurring chase dream permanently.
Where it is harder
Very few negative reports, which is itself notable given how frightening the prospect is inside the dream.
Worth asking yourself
What was it, when I looked? Was it what I expected?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
