Why do I hear wind in my dreams?
Check whether it was real. Wind is the weather most likely to be a genuine sound in the room, and dreamers frequently report hearing it before anything else in the dream.
Sleep does not close the ears. External sound gets incorporated into dream content readily, and a dream will build a setting around a noise it is receiving rather than ignore it. Wind outside is loud, sustained and easy to work into almost any scene.
That is worth ruling out first because it is checkable. It was windy, or it was not.
Where the sound arrives without the force, and nothing in the dream moves, incorporation is the most likely account and the least mysterious one.

One of the few dream elements you can verify against something external, which is rare and worth using.

None, beyond the mild disappointment of a dream turning out to be the weather.

Was it windy that night? Did I hear it before I saw anything? Did anything in the dream actually move?
