Being in the wrong body

Dreaming you are in somebody else's body

What does it mean to dream you are a different person?

The body is not the dreamer's and is occupied without any difficulty at all. Age, size, sex and ability all vary from the dreamer's own, and none of it raises an objection at the time.

That completes an argument this database builds across several entries. Dreams assert who somebody else is with no regard for what they look like, and it turns out they assert who you are on the same terms. Identity is supplied, not inferred, in both directions.

Dreamers only notice on waking, and frequently report the noticing as the strange part rather than the dream.

A minority report being a specific other person, which moves those reports towards the composite and mimic material.

Where this reads well

One of the most philosophically interesting things people report, and dreamers usually find the identity argument satisfying.

Where it is harder

A small number report it as genuinely destabilising, particularly where the body was distressed or unwell.

Worth asking yourself

Whose body was it? Did I object at any point? When did I notice?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
