Why do I keep dreaming about the same place?
The commoner of the two kinds of recurrence, and the one dreamers describe with the most wonder.
It is not the same dream. It is the same place with different events in it: a house, a town, a school, a stretch of coast. Dreamers describe it as identical each time, report learning its layout across years, and frequently say it has become more familiar than places they actually visit.
Most of these places do not exist and are not composites the dreamer can trace. That is the part people find remarkable, and it is worth recording carefully rather than explaining away, because the consistency is the interesting fact.
Whether the place is truly identical or is being reconstructed from the memory of dreaming it is not something a report can settle. Writing down its features the morning after is the only way to find out, and almost nobody does.
