Things changing size

Dreaming your body is the wrong size

What does it mean to dream you are enormous or tiny?

The version applied to the dreamer, and hands are the commonest place it is noticed, which ties it to the reality-check material.

Dreamers report being too large for a room, too small for furniture, or a specific part being wrong while the rest is normal. That last one is the strangest to report and the hardest to convey.

Like the room version, it is proportion rather than size that has gone. Dreamers rarely say they were a particular size. They say nothing fitted.

It occurs disproportionately at sleep onset, and children report it more, which is one of the few age patterns in this database that dreamers consistently confirm about their own childhoods.

Where this reads well

A useful lucidity cue for anybody who gets it, since it is exactly the kind of inconsistency that triggers recognition.

Where it is harder

In children it can be genuinely frightening, and adults who had it as children frequently remember it decades on.

Worth asking yourself

Was it all of me or part of me? Was I falling asleep? Did I have this as a child?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
