Dreaming about objects that keep changing size
Why do things change size when I look at them in dreams?
The version applied to things rather than to rooms or bodies, and it behaves exactly like the other instabilities here.
An object is one size, then another. It grows while held. It is a different size each time attention returns to it. Dreamers describe checking, which is the same thing they do with hands and with text.
The cause is the same as everything else in this family. Dreams generate detail on demand and do not store what they generated, so a property that has to be reproduced on the second glance frequently is not.
Size, number and text are the three that fail most reliably, which is why all three are used as reality checks and why all three appear separately in this database as dreams people find disturbing.
Where this reads well
Belongs with counting fingers and reading text as one of the checks, and dreamers who get it can use it.
Where it is harder
Mild as these things go. Dreamers report puzzlement more than distress.
Worth asking yourself
Did it change while I watched, or between glances? What was the object? Did I check twice?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
