Dreaming about not wanting to look in a mirror
What does it mean to dream you avoid your reflection?
Reported often enough to separate, and it is the most informative version on this page because of what it prevents.
The mirror is there. The dreamer knows something is wrong with it, and does not look. Dreamers describe a specific reluctance and describe it as knowledge rather than fear: they simply know.
The refusing entry finds this across the whole database. Almost nobody in these reports opens the door, reads the letter, turns round to see the pursuer, or answers the phone. Evaluation and curiosity are largely offline, so the impulse to check does not arrive.
There is a second reason here. Nothing is behind the mirror until the dreamer looks, because nothing is stored. Not looking is not avoiding a fact. It is declining to have one generated.
Which makes it a good deliberate experiment for anybody working on lucidity: in a dream, look.
Where this reads well
Dreamers who do look almost always report something less frightening than the not-looking was, which is the same finding the unseen-pursuer reports produce.
Where it is harder
Sustained dread with nothing to attach it to, and it is the version most likely to recur.
Worth asking yourself
Did I look? How did I know not to? What did I expect to see?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
