Dreaming about a masked figure
What does it mean to dream about somebody wearing a mask?
The unease is specific and worth naming precisely: the dreamer cannot read intent, and reports distress out of all proportion to anything the figure does.
That is the same content as the faceless-person reports, and the two belong together. What a dream removes when it removes a face is the information people use continuously and unconsciously to judge whether they are safe. Removing it produces alarm without a threat, which is an unusual combination and is why these dreams are remembered.
The figure is usually still. Dreamers rarely report a masked figure doing anything, and frequently say that was the worst part.
Where this reads well
Almost none. Where the mask is recognisably festive or theatrical the reports are ordinary and untroubled, which is itself informative.
Where it is harder
The absence of event is what dreamers find hardest to explain afterwards and hardest to dismiss.
Worth asking yourself
Did it do anything? Could I tell what it wanted? Was it still?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
