Infidelity

Dreaming your partner is unfaithful again and again

What does it mean if I keep having the same dream about cheating?

The version that does the most damage, because repetition reads as confirmation.

It is not. A dream repeating is evidence about the dream, not about the world. Recurring dreams skew unpleasant, which is a real finding, and an unresolved anxiety produces the same dream precisely because it is unresolved rather than because it is true.

The useful thing about a recurring dream is that it gives you a repeated measure. One dream says almost nothing; the same dream logged against what was happening each week is the only reliable way anybody finds out what it tracks. Dreamers who do that usually find it tracks their own worry, and can date it.

What it will never do is produce information about another person. There is no mechanism, and the dreams do not resolve when the relationship is fine, because they were never about the relationship.

Where this reads well

The repeated-measure framing turns the worst version of this dream into the most useful one to journal.

Where it is harder

Repetition is read as accumulating evidence, and a fortnight of it produces real suspicion of somebody who has done nothing.

Worth asking yourself

What was happening on the days it came? Has anything actually changed between us? Would I accept this as evidence about anything else?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
