Why do I feel guilty about a dream where I cheated?
Less commonly reported and much more commonly agonised over.
The reports share a feature that makes the guilt hard to justify: the dreamer usually had no agency. It had already happened, or it happened without a decision, and dreamers frequently say they were watching themselves rather than acting.
Guilt for something you did not choose, in a state where choosing is not available, is not a moral fact about you. It is an emotion the dream generated alongside the content, which is what dreams do with emotion generally.
The temptation to confess it is worth resisting for a day or so. Nothing has happened, and a dream reported as though it were an event tends to be received as one.
Where this reads well
Almost all dreamers who find this page report relief at how ordinary it is, which is the reason the page exists.
Where it is harder
The guilt is genuinely uncomfortable and can persist for days, entirely out of proportion to anything that occurred.

Did I decide anything, or had it already happened? Was I watching myself? Who did I feel I had wronged?
