Why do I dream about guns?
Worth a scenario because the answer is unglamorous and checkable: guns appear far more in the dreams of people in places where guns are present.
That is a clear continuity effect and it is not surprising. Dreams are built from what a person has been exposed to, through their surroundings, their work, their news and their entertainment.
It is a useful corrective to symbolic readings that treat a gun as meaning the same thing everywhere. What appears in a dream is largely a question of what was available to appear, which the friend and neighbour entries describe for people.
That does not make the dream meaningless. It means the object is the material and the structure is the content, and the structure here is nearly always failure.
