What does it mean to dream a gun will not fire?
The most reported gun dream is one where the gun does not work, which surprises nearly everybody who arrives here.
The reports are unusually specific: a trigger pulled with nothing happening, a bullet leaving the barrel slowly and falling short, or aim that will not hold steady.
This is the effort-without-effect family and nothing more sinister. It sits with running without moving, shouting without sound, punching without force and the knife that will not cut. The intention is formed, and during dreaming sleep the body returns nothing.
The slow bullet is a particularly good detail, because it is not a failure to act. It is an act with the force taken out, which is exactly what a switched-off body produces.
