Dreaming about being unable to feel grief
What does it mean to dream about a death you feel nothing about?
The inverse, and dreamers report it with guilt. Somebody has died in the dream, often somebody loved, and the dreamer feels nothing at all.
This distresses people considerably and it is worth answering plainly: it says nothing about how much you care. Dreams generate emotion unreliably, and the absence of a feeling is no more meaningful than its presence without a cause.
Reports of this cluster during real bereavement, particularly early, when numbness is a normal part of grieving. The dream is more likely to be reflecting that than commenting on it.
