What does it mean to dream about someone alive dying?
You wake having mourned someone who is fine. The grief was complete and the relief afterwards is often mixed with lingering distress that takes hours to clear.
This is the version people most want reassurance about, so: it does not predict anything. There is no evidence that dreams forecast illness or death, and acting on one has caused real harm.
What can be said is that the grief was genuinely experienced, which is why it does not clear the moment you realise it was a dream.

Many people describe an urge to contact the person afterwards. That is a fine thing to do; it just is not something the dream told you to do.
Where it is harder
It is not a warning. If a dream has left you frightened about someone's health, the health question belongs with a doctor and the dream belongs in your journal.
