Dreaming about flying away from something
What does it mean to fly away from something chasing you?
Flight used as an exit rather than as an experience. Something is below or behind, and going up is how you leave.
This sits at the junction of two records, flying and being chased, and reports of it usually carry the emotional signature of the chase rather than of the flight. The relief is enormous, but it is relief from something, which is not the same as the untroubled version.
It is also one of the more common ways a nightmare resolves itself without waking, which makes it worth recording as an outcome rather than only as an image.
Where this reads well
A nightmare that resolves by escape rather than by waking is a nightmare your sleeping mind found an ending for.
Where it is harder
What you were escaping is the part worth recording, and it is the part people most often leave out.
Worth asking yourself
What was I getting away from? Did it follow?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
