Dreaming about flying over somewhere you know
What does it mean to fly over your own town or house?
Height changes what a familiar place is. From above, a street you know daily becomes a shape you have never actually seen, and reports of this version dwell on the recognition rather than on the flying.
People frequently describe the layout being wrong: extra streets, a house in the wrong place, a version of the town that does not exist. That is ordinary dream construction rather than anything meaningful in itself, but it is a useful thing to notice, because noticing it is a reality check that works.
If the place recurs, it belongs in a recurring group. A landscape you keep flying over across years is a genuinely unusual record to have.
Where this reads well
Seeing somewhere familiar from a new angle is one of the few dream experiences with no waking equivalent at all.
