Dreaming about losing a baby in a crowd or a building
What does it mean to dream you cannot find a baby you were looking after?
Reported heavily, and among the most distressing dreams people describe.
The structure is the searching one rather than the baby one. Dreamers describe going back to the same room repeatedly, describe the building rearranging, and describe never finding.
Searching cannot succeed in a dream in the way waking searching does, because a place checked once is generated fresh the second time rather than remembered. The lost-keys and lost-car reports describe the identical loop with a much lower stake.
The reassurance is worth stating plainly: this is not a warning. It is reported very heavily by new parents and by people newly responsible for anybody at all, elderly relatives included, and it tracks the weight of the responsibility rather than any danger to the person.
