The water coming over the sea wallI was on the front at Weston and the sea came over the wall in one piece, like a lid closing. I got as far as the car park. I have never been in a flood and I do not know why this is the one that keeps coming back.

A room I had never seenThere was a door in the hallway of my parents’ house that has never been there. Behind it was a whole room with a window looking out at nothing I recognised. I was delighted rather than frightened.

My old school, but a garden centre had moved inSame corridors, same smell, except the assembly hall was full of bedding plants and someone I have not seen since I was eleven was working the till. She said they had always been there. I believed her completely.
