A room I had never seenThere was a door in the hallway of my parents’ house that has never been there. Behind it was a whole room with a window looking out at nothing I recognised. I was delighted rather than frightened. My old school, but a garden centre had moved inSame corridors, same smell, except the assembly hall was full of bedding plants and someone I have not seen since I was eleven was working the till.
