Dreaming about an old scar or injury
What does it mean to dream about an injury you really had?
A separate group and usually attached to something real, sometimes decades old.
Dreamers report the injury returning, or the scar being examined, or the original event replaying with the details rearranged. The rearrangement is the notable part: the reports are rarely accurate and dreamers frequently notice this on waking.
Old injuries recur in dreams far out of proportion to how much anybody thinks about them, in the same way old workplaces and old schools do. Whatever governs what gets reused, recency is plainly not it.
Where the original event was traumatic these are not ordinary dreams and belong with the trauma material. Repeated distressing replays are worth taking to somebody qualified.
Where this reads well
Easy to connect to something real, which makes them among the more satisfying entries to journal.
Where it is harder
Where the injury has left real difficulty, these reports are heavy and the rearranged details make them harder rather than easier.
Worth asking yourself
Which injury was it? Was the dream accurate? How long ago did it happen?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
