Dreaming about a stranger you somehow know
What does it mean to dream you know somebody you have never met?
One of the clearest demonstrations of how dream knowledge works. The dreamer has never seen this person, and knows exactly who they are: their name, their history, their relationship to the dreamer.
The certainty is supplied directly rather than inferred from anything. It does not depend on the face, which is why it survives the face being wrong, absent, or changing partway through.
This is the same mechanism behind composite people and behind knowing a building is your childhood home when it looks nothing like it. Once recognised it becomes visible throughout a journal.
Where this reads well
Understanding the mechanism makes these fascinating rather than eerie, and dreamers usually enjoy spotting it afterwards.
Where it is harder
Dreamers occasionally conclude the person must be real and somewhere. There is no evidence for that.
Worth asking yourself
What did I know about them? Did I ever see their face clearly? Where did the certainty come from?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
