A soldier

Dreaming about soldiers

What does it mean to dream about soldiers?

For most dreamers a soldier is a costume: a figure carrying authority and threat with no personal experience behind it.

Uniform and anonymity are the reported features. Dreamers describe soldiers as a group and are rarely able to describe an individual, which puts these reports near the crowd material where enumeration fails and individuals are never generated.

The uniform is doing the work. It supplies threat and authority without requiring a face, which is economical: the dream gets a figure that means something without having to render anybody.

Searches and checkpoints appear and belong with the border entry, where the document failures are described.

Where this reads well

A clean case of a costume standing in for a character, which saves the dream a great deal of work.

Where it is harder

Anonymous authority is more unsettling than a person, as the mask and judge entries also find.

Worth asking yourself

Could I describe any individual? Were they a group? What were they doing?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
