Dreaming about rain in the background
Does rain in a dream mean anything?
Often not, and this scenario exists to say so plainly.
Rain appears in a great many dream reports as setting rather than as subject. It is raining, the dream is about something else, and the weather is doing what weather does.
Not everything in a dream is a symbol, and some things are the weather. That is a useful corrective to how dream dictionaries work, which is to treat every element as though it were placed deliberately.
The discipline worth practising when journalling is to record what the dream was about rather than everything that was in it. A record that lists rain, a dog, a door and a bus tells you nothing next year. A record that says what happened does.
Where this reads well
Learning to leave scenery alone makes a journal far more useful, and this is the easiest record to practise on.
Where it is harder
None.
Worth asking yourself
Was the rain doing anything, or was it just there? What was the dream actually about?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
