Why do I dream about spreadsheets or my work tasks?
Common, rarely written about, and one of the clearest demonstrations of the continuity hypothesis available: people dream about where they spend their days.
Dreamers report dreaming in spreadsheets, in code, in stock, in the specific motions of a trade. Sorting, stacking, serving, driving the route. It turns up particularly after long or intense working periods.
There is nothing to interpret. The dream is made of what the dreamer has been doing, which is what dreams are generally made of, and this is simply the least disguised case of it.
Where the task repeats without progress, that belongs with the endless-task material and is worth logging there instead.
Where this reads well
Reassuringly plain, and dreamers who have wondered whether it means burnout are usually relieved it means exposure.
Where it is harder
Reported as unrestful, and dreamers commonly describe waking as though they had been at work all night.
Worth asking yourself
Was I doing the actual task? Had I worked long hours? Did it get anywhere?
