What does it mean to dream about machinery that produces nothing?
A distinct and quite eerie group: running and producing nothing.
Nothing is threatening. The machine works, and there is no output, no product and no reason for it to exist.
That is the absence pattern arriving through function rather than through emptiness. The dark lighthouse produces the same feeling: an object defined by a purpose, doing everything except the purpose.
Dreamers report it as wrong rather than frightening, which is the consistent description across every member of that family, and none of them contain a threat.
