Lift

Dreaming about being stuck in a lift

What does it mean to dream about being trapped in a lift?

Worth including mainly to correct the record. Most dream dictionaries lead with the trapped lift, and it is reported less often than being carried by one. The dominant lift report is malfunction and unwanted movement, not confinement.

Where it is reported, the emotion is closer to frustration than panic, and dreamers frequently describe waiting rather than struggling. That is a different response from the one the confinement reading predicts.

For dreamers with claustrophobia the reports are more intense and less interpretable: the dream is repeating a known fear rather than saying anything new.

Where this reads well

Some reports involve another person in the lift and are described as oddly companionable.

Where it is harder

Where panic is reported it is usually about air or time rather than the space itself.

Worth asking yourself

Was I panicking or waiting? Was anybody with me? Did it ever open?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
