Dreaming about killing to protect yourself or somebody else
What does it mean to dream you killed someone who was attacking you?
A smaller group and reported quite differently from the other two, which is why it is separated here.
There is a threat, the dreamer acts, and the guilt afterwards is usually reported as absent or mild. Several describe a fierceness they did not know they had and find that more notable than the act.
Where the dreamer is protecting somebody else, particularly a child, the reports change again and are frequently described as the strongest emotion the dreamer has felt in a dream.
None of this is evidence about capability in waking life. The useful observation is narrower: this version does not produce the self-suspicion the others do, which suggests that what troubles people in the main reports is the missing reason rather than the violence.
Where this reads well
Dreamers frequently wake from these steadied rather than shaken, which is unusual at this end of the database.
Where it is harder
Where the defence fails the reports move into the helplessness material and are logged better there.
Worth asking yourself
What was I protecting? How did I feel immediately after? Was there guilt at all?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
