Hiding something

Dreaming you cannot remember where you hid something

What does it mean to dream you lost the thing you hid?

The second failure, and it frequently arrives in the same dream as the first: the object is hidden and its location is immediately lost.

That is the unearned-certainty machinery running backwards. Elsewhere in this database a fact arrives with no source. Here a fact the dreamer genuinely established a moment ago is simply not there.

The explanation is the same either way. Nothing is stored. A location was generated when the object was placed, and it was not kept, so there is nothing to retrieve when the dreamer turns round.

Dreamers describe searching the places they might have used and finding each one wrong, which is the never-the-same-twice detail the bag and library reports describe.

Where this reads well

A neat demonstration that dreams do not store what they generate, visible within a single dream.

Where it is harder

The combination of hiding and losing is described as one of the more maddening structures here.

Worth asking yourself

Did I know where I put it? Did I search anywhere twice? Did I ever find it?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
