Dreaming about acquaintances instead of people you love
Why do I dream about people who do not matter to me?
The most useful and least intuitive fact in the people material: friends appear in proportion to how often they are seen rather than how much they matter.
That is why a colleague can outrank somebody the dreamer loves, and why a neighbour turns up more than a best friend who lives abroad.
Dreamers are frequently troubled by this and read it as a statement about their affections. It is not. The explanation is availability. Dreams reach for what is at hand, and what is at hand is whoever was in front of you this week.
The same rule explains the old boss, the old teacher and the interviewer who has nothing to do with work. The casting is not meaningful; the role usually is.

Removes a genuine and common worry, and it is confirmable from anybody's own records.
Where it is harder
None, once explained. Before explanation, dreamers report real guilt about it.
Worth asking yourself
Who have I actually seen this week? Who appears most in my journal? Does that match who matters?
