Fog

Dreaming about waiting for something to appear in fog

Why does nothing ever come out of the fog in my dream?

The expectation is the dream, and it is almost never met.

Dreamers describe watching, waiting, and being certain something is about to emerge. In the great majority of reports nothing does, and the dream ends or moves on.

That non-arrival is characteristic and it is the clearest difference between fog and darkness. Darkness dreams frequently deliver something. Fog dreams sustain the anticipation and do not resolve it.

It is the same shape as the being-chased dreams that never end in being caught, and the knife dreams that never end in injury. Dreams are considerably better at the moment before than at the event.

Where this reads well

Knowing that the arrival almost never comes takes some weight off the waiting, and dreamers confirm the pattern easily.

Where it is harder

Unresolved anticipation is what makes these recur, and dreamers report them as among the more repetitive dreams they have.

Worth asking yourself

What did I expect? Did anything arrive? How did the dream end?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
