A waiting room, a delay, a name not called, and the appointment never taking place. Dreamers describe the chairs, the notices and the other people in unusual detail, which is what happens when attention has nothing else to do.
The waiting entry covers the structure: duration without progress, and the thing waited for does not come. Doctors are simply one of the settings that structure most often appears in, alongside stations, queues and banks.
