Crowd

Dreaming about a silent crowd

What does it mean to dream about a crowd that is silent or turns together?

The minority report and the one dreamers describe as the worst image they have had, which is out of all proportion to what happens in it.

The crowd is quiet when it should not be, or it turns as one, or it moves with a single intention nobody announced. Nothing threatens the dreamer. The wrongness is in the coordination.

The unease has a plain enough cause. People in a crowd are read continuously and unconsciously as individuals, and a crowd that behaves as one object breaks that reading. It is the same failure the masked-figure and faceless reports describe: a channel of social information the dreamer relies on stops carrying anything.

Nothing needs to happen for this to be frightening, and in the reports nothing usually does.

Where this reads well

None commonly reported, and that is worth saying rather than inventing one.

Where it is harder

These recur in a way the other two versions do not, and dreamers often place them among their small handful of genuinely disturbing dreams.

Worth asking yourself

What made it wrong? Did anything happen? Were they facing me, or facing something else?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
