What does it mean to dream you are on trial?
The judgement dream in its most formal setting, and it shares its structure exactly with the police and prison reports.
There is a proceeding, there is an authority, and the charge is never stated. Dreamers describe complete inability to say what it concerns, along with complete acceptance that it concerns them.
That combination is the finding. Guilt arriving without a cause is one of the commonest things dreams do, and the formality of a courtroom makes the missing part more obvious than usual: every element of the ritual is present except the one that would justify it.
Where somebody has real legal trouble, these track it closely, and that is the least mysterious reading available.
Where this reads well
Dreamers frequently assume the blank charge means they are hiding something from themselves, and are relieved to learn it is the norm.
Where it is harder
The shame is real on waking and gets misread as evidence about character.

Did I ever learn the charge? Did I ask? Did I believe I was guilty?
