Dreaming about a child who is you
What does it mean to dream about yourself as a child?
Reported often, and dreamers usually know immediately that the child is themselves without anything in the dream saying so.
For dreamers without children this is one of the commonest forms the child takes, and it clusters around transitions: moving, ending a relationship, a death in the family, a change of work. The reaching back is the pattern rather than the child.
What is worth keeping a note of is what the dreamer does. Watching, comforting, ignoring and being unable to reach the child are all reported, and the difference between them tracks waking circumstances more closely than the presence of the child does.
Where this reads well
Where the dreamer comforts the child, reports are notably warm and several describe them as restorative.
Where it is harder
Where the child is distressed and cannot be reached, the report belongs with the helplessness material and is considerably harder.
Worth asking yourself
How old was I? What did I do? What is changing at the moment?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
