Dreaming about chicken
The most numerous bird on earth and among the least dreamt about, which is the interesting thing about it. Where an animal is everywhere in life and absent from dreams, something is worth explaining.

For everybody else the chicken appears as food rather than as an animal, and those reports belong with the meat material.
The cockerel is reported separately and almost entirely for its call, which is one of the few dream sounds reliably reported and is frequently connected to waking.
A hen with chicks is a small and warm group and belongs with the care material.

The cockerel call is worth noting for the sound finding and for the possibility of real incorporation where somebody lives near one.

The cockerel appears at significant moments in several religious narratives, most famously in the gospel accounts, and its association with dawn is close to universal where the bird is kept.
Cockfighting has cultural and ritual significance in a number of places and is a serious matter rather than a curiosity.
The chicken as a byword for cowardice is English idiom and does not travel.
