Being late

Dreaming about not being able to get ready in time

Why can I never get ready in dreams?

This is the commonest single version. The dreamer is trying to leave, and every step takes longer than it should: clothes cannot be found, a bag will not pack, somebody interrupts, and the clock keeps moving.

What is notable is that the obstacles are trivial and endless rather than large and singular. That pattern suggests the dream is generating friction rather than representing a specific problem.

It is also a useful reality check. Noticing that you have been trying to leave for what feels like an hour is exactly the kind of inconsistency that produces lucidity with practice.

Where this reads well

The repetition makes this an unusually reliable dream sign for anybody working on lucid dreaming.

Where it is harder

Where it happens most nights during a stressful period, the useful response is to the pressure rather than to the dream.

Worth asking yourself

What specifically kept getting in the way? Was it ever the same thing twice?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
