Anticipation

Dreaming you wake at the moment something happens

Why do I wake up just as something is about to happen?

Where something does arrive, dreamers often report the dream ending at that moment, which is worth noting: the anticipation and the waking are frequently the same event.

That appears across the database. The chase ends at contact, the mask comes off and the dream stops, the box is opened and the dreamer wakes, the invisible dreamer is seen and it ends.

Two readings are available and the reports cannot separate them. Either dreams are poorly equipped to continue past a resolution, or the arousal that produces the arrival is what wakes the sleeper.

Recording which came first is the only thing that would help, and almost nobody can.

Where this reads well

An honest open question, with a clear statement of what evidence would settle it.

Where it is harder

Waking at the moment of arrival is startling and ends the night.

Worth asking yourself

Did I wake at the moment? Did anything actually happen first? Which came first?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
