Dreaming about a derelict or collapsing building
What does it mean to dream about an abandoned building?
Empty, unsafe, and usually somewhere you were not supposed to be. Reports emphasise the floor (holes, rot, stairs that will not take weight) more than they emphasise the building.
Attention to what is underfoot is the distinguishing feature, and it separates this from other place dreams where the setting is a backdrop rather than a hazard.
Some reports describe recognising the building as somewhere from earlier in the dreamer's life, now ruined. Where that happens it belongs in a recurring group, because the state of it can change across dreams.
Where this reads well
Exploration shows up in these reports as often as fear. Many people describe going further in rather than leaving.
Where it is harder
If the building is somewhere real to you, be careful of reading the ruin as a verdict on that part of your life.
Worth asking yourself
Did I know the building? Was I going in or trying to get out?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
