What does it mean to dream something is going to come out?
The anticipation version, and in the great majority of reports nothing arrives.
Dreamers describe watching, being certain, and being unable to look away. The dream ends, or moves on, and the thing does not emerge.
That is the fog structure exactly, and the darkness structure, and the chase that never ends in capture. Dreams sustain expectation and produce events badly, and the non-arrival is so consistent that it is more useful to know in advance than any reading of what might have been in there.
Holes in a body are a separate and much more distressing group and belong with the wound and skin material rather than here.

Knowing the arrival almost never comes takes real weight off the waiting.

Unresolved anticipation is what makes dreams recur, and these do.
