• Dad in the passenger seat, saying nothingI was driving the A38 and he was next to me with his hand on the door handle, the way he always sat. Neither of us said anything the entire way. I woke up before we got anywhere and lay there a long time trying to get back into it.

• My grandmother in her kitchenShe was making something and did not turn round, and I knew she had died but it did not seem to matter. I woke up feeling completely fine, which surprised me.

• My grandmother’s hands on my shoulders in a crowdI was somewhere very crowded and could not get through, and then there were two hands on my shoulders steering me, and I knew whose they were without turning round. She died in 2011. I did not see her at any point in the dream.
