Station

Dreaming about a departure board you cannot read

Why can I never read the board in a station dream?

The most reported object in this record, and it is the text-instability finding in its purest applied form.

Dreamers read a platform number, look again, and find a different one. The time will not settle. The destination is not listed, or is listed and then is not.

A departure board is the worst possible object for a dream to render: dense text, all of it numeric, all of it consequential, and demanding to be checked twice. Every property that makes text fail is present at once.

This makes stations an unusually reliable place to become lucid, because the check is built into what the dreamer is already doing. They are looking twice because they need the information, not because they suspect anything.

Where this reads well

One of the better lucidity opportunities there is, and it requires no deliberate test at all.

Where it is harder

The urgency is real and the information never arrives, which makes these among the more frustrating anxiety dreams.

Worth asking yourself

Did the number change? How many times did I look? Did I ever find the platform?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
