Dreaming about a friendly snake
What does it mean to dream about a friendly or harmless snake?
The version that most contradicts the popular reading, and one of the more common ones in practice. A snake that is calm, curious or companionable tends to be reported by dreamers who are not afraid of snakes while awake, which is the least mysterious explanation and probably the right one much of the time.
Where the dreamer is frightened of snakes and dreams a friendly one, the dream is more striking. This is the compensatory shape Jung described, and it is one of the few places that framework earns its keep.

Widely reported during periods of recovery, or after a fear has been faced in waking life.
Where it is harder
Little. The main risk here is over-reading a pleasant dream because the symbol has a bad reputation it did not earn in your case.
