What does it mean to dream about a sibling who is not real?
Reported by a noticeable number of dreamers and one of the odder experiences people describe.
The sibling does not exist. The dreamer nonetheless has a complete sense of the relationship: shared history, a personality, a position in the family, feelings about them. None of it was ever established in the dream.
This is unearned certainty at its most elaborate. Elsewhere in this database a fact arrives without evidence. Here an entire relationship does, with texture, and the dreamer accepts it without a moment's difficulty.
Dreamers frequently report grief on waking, which is worth naming plainly: losing somebody who never existed is a real feeling and people are usually embarrassed to mention it.

Where it is harder
The waking loss is genuine and dreamers rarely feel able to tell anybody about it.
