One of the clearest demonstrations available of how dreaming handles identity, and dreamers report it without ever finding it strange at the time.
The person has somebody else's face, height or voice, and is nonetheless known beyond any doubt to be the partner. The contradiction is only noticed on waking.
That is because dreams supply identity separately from appearance. Knowing who somebody is arrives as a fact rather than as a conclusion drawn from looking at them, which is the same unearned certainty the stranger entry describes from the other direction.
It carries no message about the partner or the other face. It is the machinery showing through.

Genuinely interesting rather than distressing, and one of the better dreams to log if you are learning how your own dreaming works.
Where it is harder
Where the borrowed face belongs to an ex-partner the dream is uncomfortable, and that discomfort is about the face rather than about anything the dream said.

Whose face was it? Did I question it in the dream? When did I notice the contradiction?
