Dreaming about a summit you never reach

What does it mean to dream the top keeps moving further away?

A distinct and frequently reported feature: the dreamer reaches what they took for the top and finds more above it, sometimes repeatedly.

This is not the dream being cruel. It is how dreams handle space that has not been generated yet. A summit is produced when attention arrives at it, and there is nothing that requires the version produced to match what was visible from below.

The same construction makes corridors lengthen while being walked and makes the far bank stay far. Logged together, the receding summit stops looking like a statement about goals and starts looking like a property of dreamed space.

Dreamers frequently report knowing, partway up, that there will be more. That anticipation is worth recording, because it means the dream had already established the pattern.

Where this reads well

One of the clearest illustrations in the database of how dream space is built, and easy to spot once described.

Where it is harder

The repetition is demoralising and dreamers report these as among the most tiring dreams they have.

Worth asking yourself

How many times did it happen? Did I expect it? Did I keep going?

Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
