Dreaming about a caged or tame lion
What does it mean to dream about a lion that is captive?
Reported occasionally and described with a distinctive discomfort that dreamers often struggle to place.
The animal is safe. That is the point, and it does not help. Dreamers report unease at the containment itself rather than relief at being protected by it, and frequently cannot say why the dream was unpleasant when nothing threatened them.
It is worth a line in the journal precisely because the feeling does not match the situation. Emotion in dreams is generated alongside content rather than caused by it, which is why a scene with no danger can carry dread and a scene with a great deal of danger can carry none.
The tame version produces the same difficulty, and dreamers describe it more often as sad than as frightening.

Hard to convey to anybody afterwards, because described plainly it sounds like nothing happened.

Was I frightened, or something else? What exactly was uncomfortable? Was the animal distressed?
