Dreaming about envying somebody
What does it mean to dream you envy what somebody has?
Reported separately and described as much milder, closer to wistfulness than to the sharper version above.
Possessions, a house, a position, a life. Dreamers describe noticing rather than wanting, and frequently report no bitterness at all.
The difference from the first scenario appears to be whether anybody is being excluded. Envy at a thing produces a quiet report. Exclusion from people produces a sharp one, which fits the finding in the loneliness entry that people rather than circumstances drive this whole area.
These rarely persist into waking, which is the clearest practical difference and the reason they are worth separating when journalling.
