Dreaming about your first day at school as an adult
Why do I still dream about starting school?
The persistence is striking. Adults report first-day-at-school dreams thirty and forty years after leaving.
That puts them alongside the examination dreams for durability, and both are reported by people whose school years ended before much of their current life began.
Old settings recur far out of proportion to how much anybody thinks about them, which the teacher, childhood-home and old-workplace entries all find. Whatever governs what dreams reuse, recency is plainly not it.
A new-job version exists and is reported by people who have been in the same role for years, which is the same finding wearing adult clothes.
Where this reads well
Placing it with the wider reuse pattern removes the sense that it must mean something is unresolved.
Where it is harder
None beyond the puzzlement.
Worth asking yourself
How long ago was it really? Which school? Was it school, or a job?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
