Dreaming about eating something you cannot taste
Why can I not taste food in dreams?
This is a general property of dreaming rather than a fact about food, and it is worth knowing before reading anything into a tasteless meal.
Dreams are strongly visual, moderately auditory and weakly gustatory. Taste is among the least generated senses, alongside smell, and the salt entry is the closest thing to an exception in this whole database.
That constrains the food section far more than the traditions suggest. A reading built on the pleasure or the flavour of eating has nothing in the reports to stand on.
If you did taste something, that is genuinely unusual and worth a line in the journal, because the list of images that produce it is very short.
Where this reads well
A clean limit on what any food dream can be about, and it applies across the whole section.
Where it is harder
None.
Worth asking yourself
Could I taste anything? Did I notice at the time, or only afterwards? What was it?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
