Dreaming about water you cannot get to
What does it mean to dream you cannot reach a drink?
The obstacle version, and it sits at the join between two families.
A tap that will not run belongs with the things-that-do-not-work group: the phone that will not dial, the lock that will not catch, the light switch that does nothing. Fine mechanisms are what dreaming renders worst.
Water that is present and out of reach belongs with the non-arrival group: the fruit just too high, the far bank, the receding summit.
Which one you had is usually answerable, and it points at different explanations: one is your body being switched off, the other is the dream not producing an arrival. Recording which is more useful than any reading of the thirst.
Where this reads well
A clean chance to practise sorting mechanism failure from non-arrival, which pays off across a journal.
Where it is harder
Combined with a real signal these recur through the night.
Worth asking yourself
Did the tap fail, or could I not reach it? Was I actually thirsty? Which family does it belong to?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
